My Working Day – Scott Dixon – Co-founder of The Flava People
As the leader of a company, you are there to set an example, to lead and inspire a team of individuals to achieve a series of business goals. But how do these business leaders go about their daily routine?
Business Leader spoke to Scott Dixon – Co-founder of The Flava People about his working day.
What time do you usually wake up?
What do you typically have for breakfast?
Porridge & banana, it’s the only thing that keeps hunger locked up until lunch!
What is the rest of your morning routine?
Exercise first for an hour to wake up, boxing circuits etc then radio 4 or a podcast from Malcolm Gladwell/Seth Godin to make me feel cleverer.
What is the first thing you do at the start of your working day?
I plan my day out, my 4/5 ‘must-do’s’ for the day BEFORE opening laptop & emails.
How do you prioritise your day’s work?
Picture my mindset at the end of the day and the 4 or 5 things that, if I nail, will leave me feeling satisfied. Then everything else is a bonus.
Do you plan meetings or are they a waste of time? Meetings are a necessary evil but try to keep them to 30 mins max.
Do you have a working lunch or is it good to take a break?
Working lunch generally.
When does your working day finish?
The creative part of my brain generally kicks in at around 5ish so usually around half 7/8.
How do you prepare for the next day’s work?
Jot down the 2 or 3 things I know I need to do nail tomorrow.
What’s your favourite piece of technology?
iPhone and my Spotify playlists, helps hugely with motivation.
How do you switch off?
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
If something can be done about a problem, there’s no need to worry. If nothing can be done then worrying will do no good anyway. (my dad, when I was about 13/14).
