My Working Day – Sefi Donner – CEO of Sports Events 365

My Working Day

As the leader of a company, you are there to set an example, to lead and inspire a team individuals to achieve a series of business goals. But, how do these business leaders go about their daily routine?

Business Leader spoke to Sefi Donner – CEO of Sports Events 365 about his working day.

WHAT TIME DO YOU USUALLY WAKE UP?

Usually, I wake up at around 7.00am.

WHAT DO YOU TYPICALLY HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?

I have a healthy breakfast routine – oatmeal, some fruits and yoghurt.

WHAT IS THE REST OF YOUR MORNING ROUTINE BEFORE YOU START WORK?

Most mornings I walk a few blocks around my neighbourhood to energise myself, followed by a quick shower and breakfast before heading out.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO AT THE START OF YOUR WORKING DAY?

I go through the last night’s orders and then answer a few e-mails that I didn’t manage to deal with on the previous day. I make sure to have at least 20-30 minutes prior to my first scheduled meeting.

HOW DO YOU PRIORITISE YOUR DAY’S WORK?

This is the million-dollar question. I try to follow two rules: 1. Look for what you can delegate to your team. 2. Don’t forget to devote time for important but not urgent matters.

DO YOU PLAN MEETINGS OR ARE THEY A WASTE OF TIME?

Meetings are an essential part of work. I usually plan and hold short meetings with a focused group on each subject rather than wide-ranging big meetings. With small meetings, I feel I don’t waste people’s time on topics that are not relevant to them.

DO YOU HAVE A WORKING LUNCH OR IS IT GOOD TO TAKE A BREAK?

It depends on the day, but my preference is to avoid business during lunch. I am always happy to speak with my employees about their private lives.

WHEN DOES YOUR WORKING DAY FINISH?

Around 19:00-20:00pm.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR THE NEXT DAY’S WORK?

I go through my to-do list, preparing myself for important meetings or calls I have the next day. I try not to leave too many loose ends.

FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY?

My iPhone and laptop are my best friends. While travelling I often use Waze to navigate, whether it’s in the city or in the country.

HOW DO YOU SWITCH OFF?

Watching a good football match or hiking during the weekend.

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED?

Hire people that are better than you in what they do.
