North Somerset Council have approved a new 120 bed Holiday Inn Express Hotel to be built at the new Junction 21 Enterprise Area.
The development will be done jointly between MRMU Ltd and Dowlas and will become a key entrance point to Weston-super-Mare and Worle.
The enterprise area currently houses Knightstone Housing HQ and a host of other developments. The remainder of the Weston Gateway Business Park due to be completed in the next 18 months.
At a cost of £12 million, this new development will not only serve travellers on the M5, but as the first 4-star hotel in Weston-super-Mare, its development is viewed as a step toward improving the current hotel accommodation on offer.
A statement from developer Dowlas read: “This will be a welcome addition to the continued success at Weston Gateway Business Park. To be able to deliver the first four-star hotel for Weston will be a valuable attraction for future investment in the Junction 21 Enterprise Area.”
Stephen Bashford, Head of Economic Development at North Somerset Council said: “This scheme has evolved into something that represents a truly modern gateway both for the Junction 21 Enterprise Area and Weston. It setting a marker demonstrating the ambition North Somerset Council has toward the regeneration and investment of the wider town.”
