A new general manager has been appointed at a South West independent health club. Mark Johns has now taken over the running of the award-winning club and spa at Cadbury House in Congresbury, North Somerset.
With a wealth of experience in the health club and wellness sector, Mark joins the popular club from DW Fitness First in Bath. Prior to that he oversaw the running of the Ledbury Leisure Centre and swimming pool on behalf of the Halo Leisure Trust.
Working as area manager for the David Lloyd Group for five years, Mark was in also charge of the group’s Long Ashton venue in Bristol during its £2.5m refurbishment.
Commenting on his appointment Mark said: “theclub at Cadbury House has arguably one of the best reputations across the whole South West and attracts members from a very wide geographic area. It’s also totally unique in that it’s very rare to have an independent club likes this that has such high, premium level of facilities.
“Bristol is one of the most competitive markets in the UK for health clubs and to have such a strong reputation and member base is testament to the team who have worked so hard here to keep it at the forefront of the health club scene.
“There is a very strong legacy here alongside some fantastic opportunities to grow on that reputation. I’m now looking forward to working closely with what is a fantastic team and to realise further the potential of this amazing health club.
“Maintaining a relaxed but professional level of service, my aim is to create a world class experience for all the members and visitors while keeping the community feel that’s so prominent here.”
Nick Taplin, owner of Cadbury House added: “I’d like to welcome Mark to Cadbury House. He comes at a time when the club continues to enjoy a strong membership base and remains at the forefront of what people come to expect from a leading health club and spa. We wish him the very best in his new role as he looks to take theclub onto the next level.”
