Nintendo Switch has helped to increase the company’s revenue

Nintendo has announced that it’s experienced its most profitable quarter since 2009.

The company announced an operating profit of 116.50 billion yen (£755 million), up from 32.26 billion yen on the same period last year.

Nintendo’s operating profit has seen an increase thanks to the company’s Switch games console.

The company’s Nintendo Switch games console has outsold its predecessor, the Wii U, selling 7.23 million consoles in the previous quarter, bringing total sales to an estimated 14.86 million devices.

This has been achieved just 10 months after its launch. Whereas, the Wii U originally went on sale in November 2012, selling 13.56 million units before it was discontinued in 2017.

The console has subsequently been labelled a commercial flop.

Following news of the operating profit, the Kyoto-based company has raised its profit forecast for the year ending March from 120 billion yen to 160 billion yen.
