The prestigious Weston College Business Awards recognise companies and apprentices around the South-West for exceptional accomplishments across a range of industries.

Last year, the awards attracted over 160 nominations and 300 guests attended a glittering gala evening at Doubletree Hilton Cadbury House, Congresbury.

Winners on the night included Wrington-based Debbie Fortune Estate Agents.

They won the Small Business Employer of the Year Award and overall Apprentice Employer of the Year.

Owner Debbie Fortune said: “I’ve found that with the right apprentices, we have been able to improve everything we do in the business.”

One of Debbie’s apprentices, Rebecca Millard, took the Advanced Professional Services Learner of the Year title and the overall Apprentice of the Year Award.

Rebecca joined the team in 2013 and in a 12 month period was involved in the sale of 41 properties, ranging in value from under £200,000 to well over £500,000. Her employer said Rebecca had made “a dramatic impact on the success of the business.”

This year’s event will take place on the evening of Thursday 9th June 2016 at the Cadbury House Hotel.

The evening will comprise of; welcome drinks, a chance to network, a key note speaker, a three course meal, a performance from Weston College Creative Arts students followed by a glittering awards ceremony.

Liz Redwood, Executive Director of Apprenticeships and Commercial Strategy, said: “The Business Awards is an event that we look forward to each year. There’s something very special about hearing how apprentices have progressed and the huge difference they can make to their employers.”
