North West office stock supply group acquire photocopier business

Mark Penketh

Penketh Group has acquired one of the North West’s most established photocopier and office supplies businesses.

The company has bought Wirral-based Currie Business Services and added its six employees to its own 80-strong team.

Penketh Group has its own head office in Wirral, along with its Manchester-based Worklife Showroom.

The latest acquisition coincides with another successful year for Penketh Group with revenues rising to £12.5million, up from last year’s £11.3million.

Currie Business Services was founded in 1991 by brothers Brian and David Currie with customers across Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.

The company’s photocopier business will continue to trade under the Currie name with other services including office supplies and furniture transferring to Penketh Group.

Mark Penketh, Managing Director of Penketh Group, said: “Our two businesses have a very similar ethos and were a natural fit when the opportunity came along to acquire Currie.

“We had an existing photocopier division in our business but Currie’s moves us to another level, particularly in terms of engineering excellence.

“Our goal is to become a £20million turnover business by 2020 by providing our customers with a modern, diverse, knowledgeable and flexible offering. We have made significant progress in the last 12 months and have further plans to accelerate our growth plan over the coming months.”

Brian Currie added: “We are pleased to pass the reins of our company on to Penketh Group, a business that started out like ourselves as a family business and which shares common values and goals.”

Earlier this year, Penketh Group opened its prestigious Worklife Showroom on the eighth floor of Bruntwood’s Neo in Manchester.

The different themed areas give visitors a chance to explore the latest ideas in workplace design, the newest furniture design trends and technology development for improved collaboration, flexible working and more efficient working.

There is also a library area with a wide range of fabrics and finishes.
