OLYMPIC LEGEND TO ATTEND WESTON COLLEGE BUSINESS AWARDS

sally-gunnellOlympic gold medal winner Sally Gunnell OBE will be the guest speaker at the Weston College Business Awards.

Sally is the only woman ever to hold four major track titles concurrently – Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth.

The event, which will take place on Thursday 9th June, recognises companies and apprentices around the South West for exceptional accomplishments across a range of industries.

The awards will take place at Doubletree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury, near Bristol.

The evening will comprise of welcome drinks, a chance to network, a three course meal and a performance from Weston College Creative Arts students followed by a glittering awards ceremony.

Guest speaker, Sally Gunnell, said: “Nothing inspires others like a true success story, and I am very much looking forward to helping Weston College and its many partners celebrate some of their success stories.

“There are many similarities between high performance in the worlds of sport and business, from overcoming adversity and the fear of failure to leadership and teamwork, and I hope to share some of what I have learned with those attending the Weston College Business Awards.”

Nominations have closed but the College received more than 140 entries for this year’s awards.

There is an independent judging panel who will now look at all nominations and create a shortlist of entrants who will be invited to the event.

Liz Redwood, Executive Director of Apprenticeships and Commercial Strategy, said: “The high calibre of nominations this year have been impressive, it’s great to hear the huge successes of businesses and their apprentices.

“Securing Sally Gunnell as guest speaker is fantastic, we’re really looking forward to welcoming Sally to what promises to be a very special evening.”
