Open Study College, based in the West Midlands, has launched a range of tech-focused online courses designed for children aged 9-17.

The course topics range from game design and coding to digital design and music production.

The new courses are split into two age groups, starter for ages 9-12 and advanced from 13-17. The advanced level aims to be focused on setting children up with skills as well as creating a portfolio of work they can use in applications.

Offered over five weeks and with live tutor support, group sessions via Zoom and forums from experts in tech, the courses can be studied at the child’s own pace.

Head of Education and Development, Robbie Bryant, commented: “We’re so excited to deliver a range of brilliant courses to challenge and improve young minds for the first time.

“With schools currently still closed, these courses can complement children’s existing home-schooling plans, supporting subjects like IT or computer science, or simply be a way to pass the time whilst in lockdown.

“Although they are not curriculum-based, the courses are creative and engaging and will build upon vital skills needed for confidence building and spark creativity.

“We’re hoping that by studying a course with us it could help propel a child’s hobby into a future career. Whether you have a budding music producer or a tech whizz, we have a course suited to help your child’s future.”
