The Fragrance Shop has hailed its festive period success

The Fragrance Shop is celebrating an increase in its festive period sales in part to its gift sets and luxury scents.

The Manchester-based outfit saw its total like-for-like sales increase by 5.6% in the six weeks to 31 December 2017. While online growth also grew to 30%, meaning an overall sales increase of 14.6%.

Sanjay Vadera, chief executive of the Fragrance Shop, said: “There is no sign of luxury fragrances falling out of consumer favour as a great festive gift. Fragrances are intensely personal and the popularity of scents like Chanel Gabrielle and Miss Dior suggests people feel a connection to the brands behind them.

“The feedback we receive shows our customers value our approach that combines competitive prices with tailored advice on choosing the right fragrance, whether as a gift or as a treat for themselves. It’s this offer, delivered by our outstanding store teams, that ensures our growth continues to outperform the market.”

Emporio Armani’s Stronger With You, the Natalie Portman-endorsed Miss Dior by Christian Dior and Gabrielle, Chanel’s first new fragrance for 15 years that was promoted with adverts featuring Twilight star Kristen Stewart, were among its bestselling scents.

The Fragrance Shop, which operates 214 stores across the UK, plans to open 20 new stores during 2018.
