Hotel developer, owner and operator, Perseus – the brand responsiblefor the creation of Hotel Les Roches Rouges in the South of France has announced the sale of their Les Hôtels d’en Haut portfolio to KSL Capital Partners, a private equity firm specialising in travel and leisure enterprises.

Along with Hotel Les Roches Rouges, KSL Capital Partners have also purchased the group’s four Alpine properties located in Val Thorens, Courchevel 1850 and Megève, France.

The Les Hôtels d’en Haut journey began with Perseus’ first acquisition of Le Val Thorens in 2011. Originally a 3*, 81-room property in Val Thorens, Perseus re-opened it as a 4* property following an extensive six-month renovation.

In 2012, Perseus added Le Fitz Roy in Val Thorens and Hôtel des 3 Vallées in Courchevel 1850 to the portfolio; Le Fitz Roy reopened the next season as Europe’s highest 5* hotel and Hôtel des 3 Vallées has since been recognised as one of Courchevel’s most appreciated boutique hotels with its vintage atmosphere and local deli.

Les Hôtels d’en Haut completed their mountain portfolio with L’Alpaga, a 5* mountain hamlet located in Megève, whose restaurant was awarded a Michelin star. In 2017, Perseus travelled from the ski slopes to the seaside, and following extensive renovations, launched Hotel Les Roches Rouges – possibly the brand’s most celebrated hotel.

Its rooftop restaurant, La Terrasse, was too awarded a Michelin-star in 2019.

Perseus Founder, Valéry Grégo commented: “As the founding portfolio of Perseus, it is very symbolic to say goodbye to a collection of hotels that has not only brought us so much creative joy and challenges along the way, but which has also embodies a new generation of hotels we are aspiring to. I know KSL Capital Partners will continue the journey of this unique and special collection of properties. The sale will now allow us to focus on a new generation of luxury projects.”
