“Persistence pays” Homeserve CEO talks about his rise and finally sealing a deal for Dominion energy

Richard Harpin - HomeserveIn the latest edition of the Business Leader Podcast, we speak with Homeserve CEO Richard Harpin about the rise of the firm, which he set up in 1993 in partnership with South Staffordshire Water with a £100,000 investment. His objective was to make homeowners’ lives easier by freeing them from the worry and inconvenience of unexpected home repairs.

In 2011, HomeServe temporarily ceased selling in the UK and was subsequently fined £30m by the FCA for failings in sales, standards and governance. Richard talks about this in-depth.

Richard explains that his belief is that if HomeServe looks after its people, its people will look after its customers. High employee engagement scores worldwide bear witness to HomeServe’s excellence in motivating and developing its workforce.

In this interview, Richard also talks about the acquisitions of both US-based energy group Dominion and Checkatrade.
