PM ‘still in charge’ despite coronavirus hospital admission

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has today said that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is still “very much in charge of the government” despite spending last night in a London hospital with coronavirus.

Johnson was admitted on Sunday evening, after suffering persistent Covid-19-related symptoms. The PM tested positive for the virus 10 days ago.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab chair this morning’s coronavirus meeting in his place.

In response to the news US President Donald Trump sent his wishes to Johnson. He said: “All Americans are praying for him. He’s a great friend of mine, a great gentleman and a great leader.”
