Post-pandemic house renovations cause boom in earnings for tradespeople
A new report, by Simply Business, has revealed the tradespeople who received the fastest growing earnings between 2020 and 2021. A boom in home renovations caused by the pandemic has led to a dramatic increase in earnings for tradespeople including joiners, furniture removers, and glaziers.

Alan Thomas, UK CEO at Simply Business, comments: “The past couple of years have been remarkably hard on tradespeople, so it’s encouraging to see that an increase in demand for their skills has led to a rise in earnings for so many in the trades.
“Over the past two years, tradespeople have demonstrated remarkable resilience, navigating supply shortages, price hikes, inflation and tax increases. Despite this, almost half of tradespeople still remain positive about the future.
“The UK’s tradespeople will continue to play a key role in the rebuilding of our economy and our communities, and their ongoing resilience should give us all confidence that we’re on the right track to recovery
