Pure Comms sponsor Bristol Bears star
Southwest telecoms business Pure Comms is sponsoring Bristol Bears star Yann Thomas for the upcoming 2021/22 Gallagher Premiership season.
The prop joined the Bears from French Fédérale 1 outfit, Stade Rouennais in 2018/19 and was named the club’s Forward of the Season following a hugely impressive campaign last season which saw the Bears finish top of the table before being beaten in the play-off semi-finals
The move is a real coup for Pure Comms, with the sponsorship providing several local links to the company.
Yann began playing rugby as a junior at combination side Nailsea and Backwell RFC, a club local to the Clevedon-based Pure Comms and one which the company also sponsors.
Pure Comms CEO Rob Vivian currently plays for Nailsea and Backwell Thirds team and is a player representative, while Sales Executive Jack Charman captains and plays for the Seniors Second team. Rob and Jack also coach the Juniors team.
Rob said: “We are thrilled to have secured sponsorship with Yann as we are linked with him through our heavy involvement with Nailsea and Backwell RFC, which is just three miles away from our headquarters.
“Yann still attends training sessions at Nailsea and Backwell, so this is fairly unique in that he has already had the chance to meet both myself and Jack and get a wider understanding of Pure Comms as a company.
“We are extremely proud to solidify this link between us, our local club and Bristol Bears, and with Yann having played junior rugby at Nailsea and Backwell, it’s a great fit all round. The Bears are certainly title contenders this coming season and we will be cheering them on.”
The Bears kick off the new season at home against Saracens on Friday, September 17 at Ashton Gate.
