Quarter of Small and Medium sized retailers to participate in Black Friday
Black Friday shoppers may see a wider selection of deals this year as new YouGov research released today found that 23% of Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the retail sector are looking at participating in Black Friday
This is up from 14% who say they participated last year.
35% say that Black Friday is one of the most important days trading days each year, with 82% of those participating expecting to sell more stock on Black Friday than on an average day.
The YouGov research also found that SME retailers believe Black Friday would be even more of a success if customers can discover their businesses and deals online.
To help make that a reality, small British businesses are taking centre on their own dedicated page at www.amazon.co.uk/smallbizblackfriday, giving potentially millions of customers on Amazon.co.uk the chance to learn more about some of the small businesses taking part in the Black Friday Sale.
Tens of thousands of British businesses of all sizes sell on Amazon Marketplace, supporting more than 74,000 jobs as a result of their business selling on Amazon.
Over 60% of these businesses are exporting to customers around the world, with export sales surpassing £1.8 billion last year alone. Last year small businesses achieved tens of millions of pounds in sales during Amazon’s Black Friday Sale.
Katie McQuaid, Director of Seller Services UK for Amazon said: “We know customers love wide selection and great deals, so we’re glad to see so many of our Marketplace sellers participating in Black Friday.
“Customers now have the opportunity to support British small businesses by discovering unique products at a great price during our Black Friday Sales event, and we’re thrilled to support their continued growth.”
