A record number of businesses and entrepreneurs have entered for the biggest business event of the year – the Business Leader Awards 2016.

The awards bring together influential leaders in business, education and government, along with the media and VIPs in celebrating business success in Bristol and the South West.

164 entries were submitted for the awards in 2015 and this year’s number has exceeded that, with hundreds of businesses and individuals entering across 15 categories.

This year there were five new awards to enter including Commercial Property, Export & International and expanded categories in Business of the Year.

The number of entries beats all previous Business Leader records and is the highest number of entries for any awards in the South West.

Andrew Scott, Managing Director of Business Leader: “This year’s quality of entrants is outstanding. We had a great mix of established businesses and start-ups – highlighting the region’s thriving business sector – and we look forward to celebrating with the finalists at the upcoming gala dinner.”

Entries for this years’ awards are now closed and ready to be judged by an independent team of senior business and community figures.

Finalists will be announced ahead of the awards, which are taking place on September 22 at the Bristol Hotel.

The evening kicks off with a champagne reception and spectacular gala dinner before the award winners are announced across 15 different categories

Hosting the awards is barrister turned news legal correspondent – and comedy and sitcom writer – Clive Coleman.
