Georgia Talbot has joined the DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre hotel on Redcliffe Way.
The appointment is part of the hotel’s programme to provide the next generation of hotel managers, chefs, bar managers, sales managers and conference organisers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a working environment,
With more and more young people now gaining qualifications and jobs via apprenticeships the appointment of Georgia at the four-star, city-centre hotel is an excellent example of the apprentice scheme in action.
Georgia, who comes from Whitchurch, will now spend at least one year at the hotel and complete her Accountancy AAT Level 2 via the City of Bristol college while working at the hotel.
As a ‘work-based’ course most of Georgia’s time will be spent at the four-star venue with her lecturers regularly visiting to assess her progress and to see how she is getting on.
Georgia said: “I spent a lot of time looking at several apprentice options but the DoubleTree by Hilton stood out for me as it was more focused on accountancy rather than administration.
“Also, being part of a large global brand, there are lots of opportunities to travel the world. Hotels also sounded more interesting than just a normal office job.”
James Headford, HR manager at the hotel said: “Georgia has already made a great impression with the team and we wish her luck for the rest of her apprenticeship.
“As one of the main hotels in Bristol we have a responsibility to provide the next generation the chance to gain experience in a busy, professional environment.”
