Sale of long-established South West tyre company announced
The long-established South West-based business, Bathwick Tyres, has recently been acquired from its founders, Wayne and Sarah Clifford, by Micheldever Tyre Services.
Bathwick, established in Bath in 1978, employs some 200 employees across its 31 sites throughout the South West and South Wales.
The acquisition brings the Micheldever-owned Protyre network to 143 centres. Micheldever is the UK’s second largest tyre distributor and is itself owned by Sumitomo Rubber Industries, the world’s sixth largest tyre manufacturer.
Bristol-based law firm, Roxburgh Milkins, provided corporate law advice to the Bathwick shareholders throughout the process.
Bruce Roxburgh, Partner and Founder of Roxburgh Milkins, commented: “We are delighted to have been able to help Wayne and Sarah Clifford secure a deal which sees Bathwick Tyres join Micheldever.
Since helping Nailsea-based Coombe Garage Tyres sell to Micheldever last year, it’s great to see that more South West success has been recognised by Protyre and for them to look to build on the excellent work started by Wayne and Sarah.”
Wayne Clifford, Bathwick Tyres, said: “Bruce and the team at Roxburgh Milkins have really helped us find our way with this whole process. They looked out for our best interests throughout and we appreciate how well the transaction was managed, making things as smooth as possible for us.”
