A school in Weston-super-Mare is officially one of the best in the country after being sent an official letter.

Priory Community School – an Academy Trust – has been officially recognised as being in the top 20 per cent of the country for the numbers of students who achieve high grades in their GCSE exams.

The SSAT — the representative body for schools — congratulated the school for its achievement as the school prepares to welcome hundreds of parents of Year 5 students to its open evening later today.

Gary Leece, Chairman of the Governors, comments: “This is wonderful news for the whole area of Weston-super-Mare, its students, parents, staff and community.

“We are delighted to be officially recognised as one of the top performing schools in the country.

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT, told Principal Neville Coles in a letter: “I would like to congratulate you and your staff and students on your school’s performance in the 2012 end of Key Stage 4 examinations…we are celebrating your achievement with the enclosed certificate which we hope you will display within the school.”

PCSA opens its doors tonight for an Open Evening with Hog Roast, BBQ and talks at 5pm and 6pm for parents with students currently in Year 5.
