Google has today announced the appointment of serial entrepreneur Marta Krupinska as the new Head of Google for Startups UK.
Marta’s strategy and vision for Google for Startups will see a shift in focus towards diversity and supporting underrepresented founders.
Marta’s appointment comes as the Google for Startups Campus in London’s Shoreditch reopens next week, following a complete renovation.
Campus first opened in London in April 2012 as one of the UK’s first open spaces for collaboration, workshops and events aimed at the startup community.
Its next chapter will see the Google for Startups team in London, as the world’s second most vibrant tech hub alongside Silicon Valley, focus on helping tech founders based throughout the UK as well as in less developed startup ecosystems globally, such as in Africa and Central and Eastern Europe.
Marta Krupinska, Head of Google for Startups UK, comments: “As technology increasingly shapes the global community and its future, it’s key to recognise the responsibility it puts on tech entrepreneurs who build the next generation of successful companies.
“We must ensure they’re sustainable, fair and diverse, and build a world in which we will all want to live. I’m so excited to lead Google for Startups in the UK and use the vast resources of both Google and London’s tech scene to make this a reality.”
Marta co-founded the global FinTech company Azimo, which offers low cost digital money transfers. Founded in 2012 in London, Azimo raised over $70 million in funding from top venture capital firms and connected over 1 million customers to the platform.
Following her success at Azimo, in 2018 Marta became the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the leading GovTech venture PUBLIC.io and co-founded a new Fintech startup FreeUp, a debt prevention platform which gives employees instant access to their earned wages.
For her accomplishments in the tech scene as well as her work in championing diversity, Marta was recognised by Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2016 and by multiple prime publications as of the most notable women in the global tech scene.
Marta will lead the Google for Startups team in London.
