Leicester-based Nelsons Solicitors has strengthened its employment law team with the appointment of a new expert.

Peter Nicholson, who qualified as a solicitor in 2012, has taken on the role of associate at the law firm, having spent seven years in London training to be a solicitor before joining Stewarts Law LLP in November 2012.

Commenting on the role, Nicholson, said: “As a leading firm in the East Midlands, Nelsons is renowned for the quality of its work and its forward-thinking approach. I saw joining Nelsons as the opportunity to be part of an exciting phase in the company’s development as it continues to grow and go from strength to strength.

“I have joined Nelsons at a really exciting point in the development of the firm as a whole and the employment department in particular. I have also been particularly impressed by the high level of investment in IT systems and technology.

“Employment law is one of the most fast-paced and rapidly changing areas of law. In addition, employment law affects almost everyone in some way and addresses important issues, such as equality and diversity.

“I enjoy finding solutions to complex problems and making a real difference to my clients. Having good relationships with clients and knowing their business is fundamental to providing sound, commercially-driven advice. One of my top priorities is therefore to continue getting to know Nelsons’ client base, while attracting new clients to the firm.”

Laura Kearsley, partner and head of the employment law team, added: “We are delighted to welcome Peter to Nelsons. His experience and expertise will be a real asset to the department and I am looking forward to seeing him flourish in his new role.”
