Research from reed.co.uk of 1,521 workers has found that 66% completed online training in 2020 to upskill or reskill and improve their job prospects.
39,000 reed courses were taken between November and December 2020, a 64% increase on the same time in 2019. Some of the popular courses included those in IT, Business and Admin and Counselling.
The data has revealed that 16–34-year-olds are the age group most likely to seek new opportunities with 71% completing online training compared to 57% of over 45s. Of those who have taken part in online courses, 93% plan to use the skills to find a new job.
Respondents shared a feeling of optimism about their job prospects as 2021 began, with 61% of those who were made redundant in 2020 hopeful their role will return this year. Additionally, 51% of those who were furloughed during the pandemic don’t believe their employability has been affected.
