Theresa May

The Prime Minister has written to the European Union to request a further delay to Brexit until the 30th June 2019, following weeks of ongoing negotiations in London and Brussels.

Britain was initially set to leave the EU on the 12th April, however, no withdrawal deal has been signed and agreed by parliament.

With EU European Parliamentary Elections due to take place on the 23rd May, the PM has proposed that if MPs can agree on a deal in time, then Britain would not have to take part in the elections.

However, if the situation continues as it currently is, then May did reveal that the UK would be prepared to field candidates.
