TLT expands national corporate practice with partner hire

Law firm TLT continues to strengthen its UK-wide corporate team with the appointment of Philip Barratt as partner. His appointment follows the firm’s busiest year in its corporate practice.

Philip joins from Capital Law where he became partner in 2019, having previously held positions at Eversheds Sutherland and Addleshaw Goddard in London. He brings a wealth of experience in mergers and acquisitions – both in the UK and internationally – with a particular focus on private equity.

At TLT, Philip will work closely with the firm’s financial services sector team, advising clients on acquisitions, disposals, investments, joint ventures and governance arrangements, as well as corporate re-organisations and general corporate advice.

Philip also brings valuable private equity experience and in-house insight, having spent time on secondment to AnaCap Financial Partners, a financial services focused private equity fund where he supported the M&A investment team with various high profile sales and acquisitions. He also worked with the credit team on its acquisition of two separate €1bn+ portfolios of unsecured non-performing consumer loans from overseas banks and the disposal of a UK residential loan portfolio.

Ranked as an ‘up and coming’ lawyer in Chambers and Partners this year, Philip was also named a Next Generation Partner in The Legal 500 in 2021 and 2022.

Andrew Webber, partner and head of TLT’s corporate team, says: “We’re very pleased to start the year by welcoming Philip into our national corporate team. His considerable experience working with clients on private equity and M&A transactions, particularly in the financial services sector, will complement and strengthen our senior capability in what are some of the busiest areas for our practice.

“He joins a number of other new recruits into the team over the last year, and we’re looking forward to supporting our clients and the wider adviser networks in what will likely be another busy period.”

Philip Barratt, partner at TLT, says: “I’m delighted to join TLT’s corporate team. The team works with an impressive range of clients, and the more I got to know the firm, the more apparent it became that we share the same values and solution-focused, pragmatic approach to supporting clients.

“Working alongside colleagues from across the firm, I’m looking forward to not only building on my strong relationships but also supporting the continued growth and development of the corporate team.”
