Trio of speakers at next Weston Chamber meeting

Weston ChamberA trio of guests speakers will be at the next Weston Chamber of Trade and Commerce meeting, where the quality of water on Weston’s beaches will be subject under the spotlight.

On Wednesday March 21, the three speakers will discuss the Environment Agency’s revised bathing water regulations, which is the framework that scrutinises the quality of the town’s water.

From the environment agency, Nic Malone will be discussing the present state of bathing water quality at Weston’s beaches, and the implications of the new directive.

Wessex Water’s Ruth Barden, will outline the work Wessex Water has been undertaking to ensure that the bathing waters in Weston and surrounding beaches meet with the new standards. And Dr Robert Keirle of the Marine Conservation Society will he giving his organisation’s views on the directive and discussing whether the legislation is wide enough in scope.

The open meeting will begin at 7PM and take place at Jackson Barstow House in Thornbury Road Uphill. There will be opportunities for networking before and after the event, as well as a raffle to raise funds for Weston Hospicecare.
