Wapping Wharf announces the ‘new kid on the dock’ as CARGO expands

Clifton Seafood Company is joining CARGO, the bustling hub of eateries and shops housed within converted shipping containers at Wapping Wharf, Bristol’s popular harbourside neighbourhood.
Fish and shellfish merchant, Clifton Seafood Company, will move into a standalone shipping container next to Pizzarova at the far end of CARGO 2, which runs along Museum Street.
The space will be converted into a fishmonger’s shop, the company’s first retail space in the city, with plans to supply a wide variety of fresh seafood from the South Coast and beyond to shoppers at Wapping Wharf. A home delivery service is also in the pipeline for the future.
Clifton Seafood Company will officially throw open the doors to its first shop at 11am on Saturday 15th December, and to mark the occasion, will be serving delicious canapes, provided by Bristol’s Fishers restaurant, Thai fish cakes made by Bauhinia in Clifton, as well as wine provided by Andy from Stewart Wines.
Rozzy Turner of Clifton Seafood Company said: “We’ve been interested in CARGO since it opened and love the atmosphere and community feel amongst the traders. At the moment we supply restaurants throughout Somerset and Bristol and we have wanted to open a little fish shop for a while to expand our business into retail. Wapping Wharf feels like the perfect home and feel we will fit into the community very well.”
As well as the arrival of Clifton Seafood Company, CARGO 2 is expanding with the addition of two new units – one made up of six 20ft by 8ft shipping containers and the other made up of three – on top of the existing ground floor units. More exciting announcements to follow soon!
Stuart Hatton, director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, said: “The growth of CARGO is very exciting as it gives us the opportunity to welcome new businesses into this fantastic community, complimenting the eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, cafes and other independent traders already based at Wapping Wharf. We look forward to making some more announcements about who’s joining the neighbourhood soon.”
