Pussy Riot in Bristol

Social Media Week, which is set to make its return to Bristol for the third time from 10th – 14th June 2019, has today announced it has added to the schedule a half day conference with Russian feminist activist punk band Pussy Riot.

Taking place on Thursday 13th June at the University of Bristol. Two members of the band will be joined by leading local and global thought leaders in an exploration of activism in the social and digital age.

The afternoon will be hosted by Bess Hepworth, human rights campaigner and Founder & Executive Director of Planet Ally who specialises in using social media as a tool for visibility, solidarity and advocacy.

The session will share high profile global case studies of positive change, include presentations from soon to be announced activists and activist groups, a panel discussion and an audience Q&A. The event will be rounded off with a fireside chat with the Pussy Riot members.

As a city with a long reputation for driving social change, running this half-day conference as part of Social Media Week Bristol provides the perfect global platform to explore how activism is evolving and transforming as a result of social and digital channels and opportunities
