Wates Residential has started work on the development of 192 homes in Cardiff, as part of a wider 1,500-home project.

The Silvervale Park development at Willowbrook West in St Mellons will comprise 192 houses including 58 new affordable properties and 134 homes for sale on the open market, with completion expected in 2020.

The scheme forms part of City of Cardiff Council’s flagship house building programme, with 1,500 homes set to be built across 40 sites.

The project is also expected to support the employment of about 6,400 people and create 9,000 weeks of training for Cardiff residents.

Joanne Jamieson, managing director of Wates Residential, said: “These new homes will provide enhanced living environments that will meet high levels of sustainability and energy efficiency for the city’s residents.

“Crucially, our work also enables us to make a significant contribution to local economic and social development through a comprehensive employment and training programme.”
