Transmission technology specialist Xtrac has appointed Piet Daenen into a newly created position of chief operating officer (COO).
Daenen joins the company’s leadership team as a full member of the board to help manage its ambitious growth not just in top-level professional motorsport around the world but also in the high-performance automotive sector, where it’s supplying premium and luxury carmakers with advanced transmission systems for hybrid and electric vehicles.
Chief executive Adrian Moor said: “Piet joins Xtrac at exactly the right time in our 35th year. We are enjoying our highest ever sales revenue with record orders and many exciting new projects underway. We have over 360 highly skilled employees in the UK and the USA and, as we keep growing, we need an experienced COO of Piet’s calibre to champion the transformation of our business over the coming months and years. The appointment strengthens the existing operations team, bringing in additional skills, knowledge and experience to add to our leading technology business.”
Xtrac has established itself as a supplier to the high-performance automotive sector with its unique range of ILEV (integrated lightweight electric vehicle) transmissions and supply of sophisticated hybrid transmission solutions for the next generation of hypercars.
Mid-way through a significant investment programme Xtrac has recently completed a 27,000 sq. ft (2,510 square metres) factory extension, which takes the total size to 115,000 sq. ft (10,685 square metres) and has already added additional gear cell manufacturing facilities, 5-axis machining and vacuum heat treatment plant. The company is installing further production equipment over the next six months as well as new transmission test cells.
Daenen commented: “I’m excited to be at Xtrac in such a leading technology field, where we are working with key customers to develop the next generation of hybrid and electric road cars as well as supporting multiple major racing series around the world.
“It’s products also typify the cutting edge of UK advanced manufacturing, and the company is in a unique position to prove new emerging technologies in motorsport before applying them to high-performance road cars. Xtrac is the very definition of British engineering at its best.
“I am already highly impressed by the commitment and skill level of the workforce who show dedication to the company and its prestigious customer base while being extremely supportive of its growth trajectory”.
