Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions, answered
Who can join?
Membership of Business Leader is exclusively for Founders and CEOs of UK-registered companies with £3m+ turnover. You must also have a growth mindset and a willingness to help and learn from other leaders.
How does it work?
From day one, we actively engage with your growth ambitions, doing everything possible to help turn them into reality. You join a forum and gain access to a wealth of expertise to support your business growth. Our growth experts provide advice and ensure accountability as you elevate your company to the next level.
What makes Business Leader different to other memberships/networks?
From our experience, each membership community offers something unique to its members. What makes Business Leader different is our specific focus on medium-sized organisations and our expertise on business growth. We are also the only UK-specific membership organisation operating in this space. There are 110,000 medium-sized businesses in the UK and only 7,000 large ones. By turning more of the former into the latter, we can create jobs, boost the economic prospects of individuals and regions, and improve society. We aren’t simply building a network. We are building a catalyst for serious economic growth in the UK.
What is the time commitment?
We understand how busy CEOs can be. That’s why our membership is set up to ensure that every hour spent interacting with Business Leader will save you at least two hours elsewhere. You will attend 8 exclusive Forums (3 hours each) per year and will be able to attend as many online or in-person events as you like, as well as interacting with fellow members on our exclusive digital platform. The tips and insights you pick up along the way will save you time and money. Beyond this, our growth experts will be on hand to assist you, or a senior colleague from your team, as much or as little as you like.
I’m not a CEO. Can I still join?
No, not yet! Our plan is to offer networks for key associates in the not-too-distant future. If you believe your CEO could benefit from joining the community, please let them know and you may be able to take the lead on certain parts of the Business Leader growth journey.
What are your guiding values?
Our guiding values are underpinned by our founder Richard Harpin, who founded HomeServe in 1993 with initial capital of £50,000 and ended up selling it in 2023 for £4.1bn. Richard understands business growth and he passionately believes that if a membership organisation like this one had existed thirty years ago, he would have grown HomeServe much quicker than he did. Being a leader can be a lonely place and, by joining Business Leader, you will have a team of CEOs and other leadership experts by your side every step of the way.
We are at heart a community that aims to help others grow and develop. We foster an environment of trust, respect, and inclusivity which leads to meaningful and long-lasting relationships among our members.
