Fever-Tree was founded in 2004 by Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow with the ambition to revolutionise the mixer drinks market. At the time, premium spirits such as gin were enjoying a resurgence, but the mixers available were dominated by mass-market brands that paid little attention to quality. Rolls, who had previously built his career in the drinks industry, and Warrillow, a former advertising executive, identified an opportunity: to create a tonic water made with natural, high-quality ingredients that could complement rather than diminish fine spirits.

The name "Fever-Tree" itself comes from the colloquial term for the cinchona tree, whose bark yields quinine. The launch of their Indian Tonic Water marked the beginning of a new category in the drinks world: premium mixers. From its initial success with tonic, Fever-Tree expanded its range to include ginger beer, soda water, and other flavoured mixers, always retaining its focus on natural sourcing and quality. Today, Fever-Tree is a globally recognised brand, stocked in top bars and restaurants and widely credited with helping to fuel the global gin boom by raising standards in mixers.
